  About Us
  Teacher and principal studio artist
Traci Tomkin started pottery in South Africa around 1980. In the beginning she felt that she was not artistic. After learning the techniques, she quickly discovered that one didn’t need to be able to draw in order to be a potter, and quickly grew to love this versatile art. She kept taking classes and also worked in a full production studio before leaving South Africa in 1986. 10 Years later she discovered the Hill Potters Guild, a co-op studio she had to wait a year to get in to join. While she was a member of the Guild, she learned many new techniques and the hobby she had started and loved became her passion. She participated in all the semi annual sales from 1997 to 2001, as well as her own show in 2001 in the Burr House Craft Gallery and Tea Room. In 2004 Traci took her passion and turned it into a full home based studio where she teaches children and adults of all ages, as well as special group activities and Corporate Clay Play.

  Artist Statement
Clay is the most forgiving medium to work in. The return to nature with clay gives one a comforting, relaxing and stress-free environment for creativity. Anyone can create masterpieces in clay, without having any artistic background. Take a lump of mud and turn it into an expression of yourself. Beat Stress, Play with clay!
